GrooveSelect Bookmarklet

Ever see a blog entry or tweet mention a song without an audio link? Maybe you're reading a top 10 list, or rummaging a bpm database. Grooveselect is a super simple bookmarklet that allows you to instantly listen to any song that is mentioned on a webpage.

The music is queried and downloaded from Grooveshark.
1. Add the bookmarklet to your browser (follow the instructions here)
2. Highlight the song title (with artist if provided)
3. Click the Grooveselect bookmarklet that is now stored in your browser.
4. WAIT!! It takes as long as a minute sometimes for the song to start playing.
5. To make it stop, just click it again.

Try it out on this: Daft Punk - Technologic

If you want a bookmarklet that opens a new Groveshark.com window and begin playing the music, try the Search Grooveshark Bookmarklet.

Here's a list of other songs you can test it on (because who doesn't love disco songs!):
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
Le Freak - Chic
Stayin' Alive - Bee Gees
Super Freak - Rick James
Funky Town - Lipps Inc.
Disco Inferno - The Trammps
YMCA - Village People
Born To Be Alive - Patrick Hernandez
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Get Up I Feel Like Being A Sex ... - James Brown
Mandolay - La Flavour
I Feel Love - Donna Summer

on OSX 10.6.3 it doesn't work on Safari 5 or Firefox 3.6.4 :-(

DD

Doesn't work on Firefox 3.6.3 either! :(

Tom

I have firefox 3.6.3 and it works fine. Are you sure you're selecting a song title before you click the bookmarklet?

Tom

Use also have to give it a little while before it plays the song. Sometimes you have to wait as long as a minute.

Mike

If you are using FireFox and NoScript you have to allow Grooveshark.com for it to play

Bee

Working great here on FF 3.6.4 - Thanks!

Steve

highlighted it, clicked the bookmark, I see the name of the song in the "marklets.com" box and the number "1" below the song name, but don't hear a thing.

I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor

Name...

Doesn't work on either my desktop or laptop, both running WXPPro and Firefox 3.6.6 and Internet Explorer 8.

Ben

I installed this on Chrome but have not gotten it to work. I get a message that "This page was prevented from setting cookies." Are there any settings I need to change? What steps do I need to take to do so?
Thanks for this product.

Lou

It works fine on my laptop ... running XP with Firefox 3.6.6, however I can't seem to get it to work on my desktop running Vista with Firefox 3.6.6. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !!!!

Chad

Any chance this could be made to work on an iPhone?

Robert

Trouble?

If you're running anything which blocks Flash, you'll need to add listen.grooveshark.com to its whitelist.

@Chad, no.

Ben

This doesn't work at all for me: Every search just plays the same 16 bit "spy theme" song.

Robert

@Ben
You don't want the one that "opens a new Grooveshark.com window", be sure you get the main one that this page is about.
