GmailThis! is an easy way to make a Gmail email without visiting mail.google.com.

Once you add the GmailThis! link to your browser's toolbar, emailing will be a snap. Or rather, a click. Clicking GmailThis! creates a mini-interface to Gmail pre-populated with a link to the web page you are visiting, as well as any text you have highlighted on that page. Add additional text if you wish and then email or save as draft from within GmailThis!

Update: Fixed "You are currently viewing Gmail in basic HTML" bug working as of October 18th 2010.

It opens a gmail window, but it's the simple html view of the inbox, not a new mail window... :(

This recently stopped working. When I click it now I'm taken to my inbox with the message 'You are currently viewing Gmail in basic HTML'. It used to open a compose window.

hummm... allright it opens a new window... wait for it wait for it... what?! live mail? Geez! DREADFUL.

Wasn't working at all till I applied fix #1 - change ui=1 to ui=2. But then it emailed one link and failed another. After looking at the link of the failure, I found a dash character in the URL, and removed that part, which happened to still refer to the same page. This worked. Can anybody suggest a better workaround, or a fix to the bookmarklet? I'm using Chrome on XP SP3.
